THE CANVAS

OVERALL VISION
Our minds continuously generate an infinite stream of thoughts as we interact with the world around us. Every day we create approximately 60,000 of them, both conscious and unconscious. Even during moments of rest, our brains continue to stay engaged. Still, we rarely actively question the process of thinking as it is. Canvas of Consciousness – an interactive kinetic installation controlled by an EEG headset – encourages us to adopt a new perspective on this essential yet abstract phenomenon.

THE SURFACE
The canvas is a hand-folded surface created using an origami technique called water bomb tessellation. Its complex, three-dimensional structure intentionally differs from the classic flat screens we see every day, with the aim of giving the abstract and intangible concept of thoughts a physical presence in the real world.
The interactive part of the experience is highlighted by the canvas's movement. The opening and closing cuboids create an organic and captivating dynamic.

HOW DOES IT WORK
Throughout the experience, an audio guide leads the visitors, explaining how everything works and inviting them to think about the topic of thoughts from a different perspective. After a short, informative introduction, the interactive part begins. Visitors take control of the canvas using an EEG headset that measures and evaluates their brain activity. Based on their brain activity, the canvas's projection and movement changes. Each visitor sees his own combination of colors, patterns, speed and intensity.
